Five years ago, we started Oceanvolt Solar & EV. We were two electricians with a passion for the outdoors and our planet. We wanted to use our skills to make a positive impact on our community. From Two Electricians to a Full Team

In the beginning, we did everything ourselves. We’ll never forget one of our first projects: a complex battery installation on a high-end property. It had a steep roof and solar arrays on two separate buildings. It took hours of teamwork and determination to get it right, but we did. That project proved to us that we could tackle any challenge by working together with persistence.

But as more of you chose to work with us, we knew we had to grow. We built a team of experts who share our values. Now, our team members are so good at their jobs, they’ve surpassed our own skills in their specialties. This allows us, as owners, to stay involved in every project and ensure the highest quality work.

Lessons from the "Solar Coaster"

The clean energy industry is always changing. People call it the "solar coaster" for a reason! Over the past five years, we've learned that patience and flexibility are key to success. There's always a new challenge, from supply chain issues to tricky rooflines on an Oak Bay home. We’ve secured a Canadian racking and mounting supplier, doing our part to help support domestic manufacturing. Every challenge has made us better problem-solvers and a more resilient company. 

The Bright Future of Clean Energy

The most exciting change we've seen is in battery technology. When we started, we worked with simple car-style batteries. These days, we install advanced whole-home energy storage systems. These systems offer true energy independence.

We recently helped a customer install a solar panel system large enough to completely offset their annual electricity use, which even included the charging of their electric vehicle. They are thrilled to see their power bills disappear and achieve true energy independence.

It’s amazing to complete a project that combines solar power, battery storage, and an EV charger. We love helping customers completely offset their electricity use and see their power bills disappear. With great incentives like BC Hydro rebates, going green is more accessible than ever.
